The Summer’s Joy retreat was truly amazing.

MAKE + MOVE

Embrace Summer

feel more joy.

Long days. Warm temperatures. Brightness.

Summer is a time of expanse. Of lightness. Of exploration.

It’s the time for movement, action & joy. It’s when we feel more open to try new things, make new friends, be more playful.

And this retreat will give you space for all of these.

There’ll be big skies, dense forests, lakes, sauna culture and SO MUCH MORE.

So join this transformative retreat:

11-14 June 2026

Step in to summer, try something new and bask in the glow of it all.

MAKE + MOVE

Connect back to now

we need to rewild.

Much of our lives are cocooned, wrapped up, separated.

We live in heated houses, wear thermal clothes, eat processed foods. We rub along next to each other & yet still feel alone. Separate. Disconnected.

This retreat is a calling back. Back to connection. Back to your essence. Back to your true nature.

This is your rewilding.

Absolutely amazing from start to finish. My expectations are always high and on every retreat you go way above them.
— Sam, Sweden Retreat 2025

Our home

We’ll be staying at the renowned Shambala Gatherings, a retreat centre established on Buddhist principles and run on this basis. Easily reached by public transport or car, just two hours west of Stockholm in Skinnskatteberg (pron: Shins-catter-bai). Surrounded by forest and lakes in the heart of the countryside, this is well worth the journey.

Accommodation is simple and shared in a variety of twin rooms and beautiful canvas bell tents complete with proper beds and furnishings. The overriding ethos is of communion, sustainability and nature connection. The vibe is understated, welcoming and easy. Little affirmations and deities adorn rooms and soon enough, it feels like home.

A special aspect is their approach to food. Everything is vegan, ayurvedic, gluten free, seasonal and almost always freshly prepared.

It also serves as an opportunity to come together - for all that are involved in the running of Shambala to commune: us lucky guests, the volunteers and other souls that keep the cogs turning gather each day to share meals and conversations.

We’ll be fully catered throughout our stay (3 meals a day) and most dietary requirements can be catered for if notified in advance.

What to expect

STIR THINGS UP

To encourage a sense of playfulness. Of exploration. Of depth. Of joy.

Within your retreat will be yoga, aerial yoga, embodied movement, breathwork, rest and voice activation.

The yoga will pull from Katonah yoga, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Vinyasa Flow. A potent and unique blend that’s familiar with unfamiliar twists.

Aerial yoga will see you fly in beautiful silk hammocks. Conjuring images of an acrobat - which may or not happen. What will definitely happen is that you’ll feel supported and held, by both the hammock and Nix as she calmly guides you.

There’ll be breathwork to enliven, restful practices to down-regulate, voice activation to build your power and more fun, play and joy than we can capture on this screen.

Classes will cater to different abilities through variations and modifications, giving the chance to challenge yourself, go easy or just mix it up.

A retreat that lets you slow down, feel free, and truly embrace summer
— Katie, Sweden Retreat, 2025

To perform a ritual is to elevate an experience. Move it from the mundane to meaningful.

Your retreat will be bookended by Opening & Closing Circles. An ancient practice that holds value, meaning and simplicity. A way to come together, share & witness.

During the retreat there’ll be opportunity to participate in Sauna Rituals, elevating simply sitting in a sauna to something more.

Each breakfast will be taken in silence. In gratitude to those that prepared your meal, the process of growing and to give time for internal musings.

These rituals will help to stitch your experience together, weaving a thread between sessions that may give rise to new thoughts or new behaviours. All adding to the expansion of this retreat.

RITUAL

PAUSE; JUST BE

Often overlooked is pausing. Being in the moment, fully present - not thinking about emails or rushing to the school pick up.

This retreat will give you ample opportunity to pause, rest & linger. Perhaps this looks like taking a nap, going for a leisurely walk, reading a book, sketching or a deeper conversation.

All sessions are optional. This is your time to use as you need.

Meet the Team

Lucy Wright

“If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” African proverb

This retreat programme is a co-creation between Lucy (Make+Move) and Nix (Phoenix Wellbeing). Their paths crossed thanks to a love of cold water & the desire to delve deeper into what life has to offer.

They bring to this retreat their many years of varied experience, a deep respect of the natural world and a drive to foster connections.

With these two guiding your sessions, you’re in for an absolute treat

Nix Barnaville

  • Lucy started running retreats in 2018 utilising her 20+ years of experience within wellness & travel. She has led expeditions internationally, managed charity challenges and has a 1st Class BSc degree in Sports+Exercise Science.

Years of travelling, movement, rewilding and seeking joy have woven together to create these retreats. The passion underlying it all is a desire to help people to connect more deeply: with themselves, the natural environment & each other.

On this retreat Lucy will hold extended yoga practices, sauna rituals and the Opening / Closing Circles. Working with the energy of summer, Lucy will encourage you to lean in to a sense of playfulness. To wallow in summers’ haze.

This retreat is borne out of Lucy’s love of summer and realisation that so often we rush headlong through it, arriving at the end wondering where it’s gone. These 4 days are a counter to that & an attempt to soak it all up.

  • A background in theatre & circus led Nix into the field of creative wellbeing. Bringing her 20+ years of frolics, fun & corsets she added trainings in aerial yoga, trigger point pilates and yoga.

Several years ago, she rediscovered her love of the outdoors – especially the thrill of plunging into cold water. That joy sparked a cold-water obsession and ultimately led to the creation of Court Farm Lakes, an open water swimming and wellbeing venue.

Nix sees herself as a guide rather than a teacher; offering gentle cues & playful invitations to explore movement and reconnect with your body. Her sessions are shaped by their creative background and focus on building a positive, joyful relationship with movement.

On this retreat Nix will be guiding aerial yoga sessions. Using the support of a fabric sling, this practice helps to deepen stretches, build strength, and offer a sense of flight. Sessions combine traditional yoga asanas with playful flips and tricks—designed to challenge your limits in a safe, supported way.
